Pilot Group acquires Urban Driving Environment division of Variable Message Signs

Pilot Group, the Manchester-based sustainable technology solutions firm, has acquired the ‘urban driving environment’ division of signage-systems firm Variable Message Signs (‘VMS’), the Hill & Smith owned company.

The deal sees Pilot Group further strengthen its traffic control systems portfolio and enhance its broad offering of industry-leading smart traffic control solutions.

VMS’ Urban division supplies a range of industry leading LED light technology solutions, in fixed and mobile configurations.

Pilot Group is an established provider of traffic control systems, specialising in the design, manufacture, and installation of systems across the UK. The Group’s systems play a key part in the efficient and safe operation of many of the UK’s urban areas, also helping to positively impact on how road networks can minimise their environmental impact.

Simone Peppi, COO and co-founder of Pilot Group, said: “The acquisition of the urban driving environment division of VMS from Hill & Smith gives Pilot Group an even better, best-in-class offering of traffic control solutions for our customers.  This division is a complement to our existing product and service portfolio and comes at a time when smart urban road management has never been more important.”

Simone added: “Ensuring that our urban infrastructure operates smoothly, efficiently, safely and in a way that helps minimise traffic’s impact on the environment is essential if our built-environments are to continue to function for all of us all. Pilot Group is proud to be at the cutting-edge of developing new products and services that help that need become a reality.”
